OUR PARTNERS
| |
Truce International |
 |
Inspired by the legendary Boxing Day truce and football match between British and German soldiers in 1914, Truce International was created under the patronage of Sven Goran Eriksson and Nancy Dell’ Olio as a response to the current lack of human security around the world. It uses football to promote peace and reconciliation, centred on the annual UN international day of peace on 21 September.
Truce International have been FC Unity's strategic partners since our inception. |

ONE WORLD FUTBOL PROJECT |
 |
The One World Futbol is designed for children and youth in harsh environments, from war zones and refugee camps to developing countries and isolated communities and hard surface inner cities. It never needs a pump, never goes flat even if punctured and will last for decades. It can endure and bring a smile where other balls can't, just like the children they're meant for.
The goal of the One World Futbol Project is to give a ball every child and youth who needs one, anywhere and everywhere in order to support and promote the many organizations that keep sports, and all that sports do for these children, alive and thriving.
Our hope is that the children we give this ball to today will use this ball to someday play with their children's children. |

Kick for Nick Foundation |

The Kick for Nick Foundation has been supporting FC Unity’s work in Iraq by sending much-needed footballs, football jerseys and equipment for young Iraqis. Since 2008 Kick for Nick has been FC Unity’s partner in Iraq. We are very grateful for Nick’s family for the invaluable contributions they have made to the lives of young Iraqi men and women.
While home on leave from Iraq in July 2006, Private Nicholas Madaras rounded up as many soccer balls as possible to bring back to the children near his post. Being a passionate soccer player, he wanted to give the balls to the children as a gesture of good will. Unfortunately, Nick was killed by an IED on September 3, 2006 and was never able to distribute the balls himself. Instead we have taken up a crusade on his behalf to fulfill his dream…
Shortly after Nick’s passing Kick For Nick was started when Ken Dartley of Wilton, CT contacted Shalini and Bill Madaras after reading about Nick’s passion for the sport and his desire to share this love with the Iraqi children. Ken wanted to start a program of collecting soccer balls in Nick’s honor to fulfill Nick’s wish to share his passion.
The support for Kick For Nick has been worldwide and letters have been received from people from many different countries. Soccer balls have been received from 45 of the 50 United States.
Donations to this fund will be for the exclusive use of the Kick For Nick Foundation to purchase balls, pumps & packaging materials and to cover shipping costs. Shalini and Bill continue to be actively involved.
If you would like to support the work of the Kick for Nick Foundation, please contact them directly. |

Sager Family Foundation |

www.teamsager.com |
The Sager Family Foundation is a key partner of the Coaches-as-Mentors Programme in Iraq which they have helped launch in 2008.
Ten years ago, entrepreneur turned fulltime philanthropist Bobby Sager, along with his wife Elaine, daughter Tess, and son Shane, made the decision to pack up their things and venture out into some of the most dangerous places on the planet to make a difference. It quickly became a journey less about giving, than really living. Looking people in the eye, feeling their humanity, and connecting with them on a level they never thought possible — as Bobby puts it, became the greatest “return on investment” imaginable.
While their philanthropic bar is exceptionally high — focused on empowering local leaders and expecting real and measurable results — their hands-on, “eyeball to eyeball” style is one they hope will resonate the loudest. Because it is exactly those moments of deep and unexpected human connection that have kept them returning to places again and again ten years after their journey first began. |
