BACKGROUND

The inaugural UNITY Cup (2007) was a commemoration of the 7/7 bombings in London and brought together London’s communities, social and corporate organisations and UK Government departments.

Although FC Unity avoids applying labels to participating teams, the core aim has been to cross ethnic and religious barriers and to unite against terrorism, extremism and Islamophobia.

To consolidate this, steps are taken to integrate minority communities (especially Muslim) into mainstream British society through debates and lectures on Multiculturalism, Leadership and Active Citizenship.

Coaching, Refereeing and Media workshops are held to develop skills, interests and possible employment paths.
